Fundraising Trustee

Heath Robinson Museum

West House is located in Pinner Memorial Park and is steeped in history. Once the home of the grandson of Admiral Lord Nelson and Lady Hamilton, the house and its grounds were purchased by the people of Pinner after the second world war. Today West House is a thriving community amenity, housing the Heath Robinson Museum, Daisy’s café and the Verden Event Rooms offering a broad range of events and activities including: exhibitions, study days, readings and theatrical performances. We are run by a highly skilled and motivated team including our fabulous body of more than 100 volunteers.

The Heath Robinson Museum was officially opened in 2016, the first London museum in over 40 years to be purpose-built. It is now widely recognised as a national and international centre for the understanding and appreciation of the life and work of William Heath Robinson, and for the development of the wider study of the history of illustration as an art form.

However, it costs approximately £320,000 per year to run the Museum and it receives no government or local authority funding. While we raise funds through ticket admissions, rental income and retail income, we urgently need to increase voluntary income through grants, sponsorship and donations. Experienced fundraising consultants have created a three-year fundraising strategy and have been engaged to deliver it, but we need to support this work with approaches to local individuals and companies.

We are therefore looking for a Fundraising Trustee as we are ambitious about our future.

What skills do I need?

Like many small museums, fundraising is a high priority for us and we are looking for someone who is passionate about fundraising to help us to deliver our strategy. This will involve working across key areas including Trusts and Foundations, Individual Giving, Corporate Donations, and with Friends of the Museum, staff, volunteers and fundraising consultant to increase income.

We are looking for someone with strong networking skills (as well as a network to reach potential donors) who is highly experienced in fundraising to join our trustee board.
