RS Drop-in Volunteer - Lynda Jackson Cancer Support & Information Services

Mount Vernon Cancer Centre (MVCC)

As a Resource Support (RS’s) you will play a key role as part of the Support & Information team engaging with visitors to our drop-in at the centre.

The Lynda Jackson centre provides a calm, non-clinical environment where patients and carers can receive additional information and support, including emotional support. You will be provided full training and you will:

· Help create an atmosphere where visitors feel safe to share.

· Alongside the health care professional, you will help to provide a warm welcome, using your active listening skills to support patients and carers in the drop-in, signpost them to support services, help answer the helpline, make bookings for complementary therapy and referrals to counselling services.

· Each shift will vary, and you may asked to adapt each shift to the needs for the shift that day.

This role will suit you if you are an excellent, compasionate listener. You will be provided with a uniform and will need to adhere to infection prevention and control measures on shift.
