Volunteer Driver: North and West London

Rainbow Trust Children's Charity

We urgently need Volunteer Drivers in West and North West London to provide safe, comfortable and reliable transport to vital medical appointments for families with a seriously ill child living in the local area.

Many families do not have their own means of transport and when children are sick, or immunosuppressed, public transport is simply not an option.

Families in your area may require transport on a regular or ad hoc basis to hospitals including Great Ormond Street, University College Hospital, Mount Vernon and Hillingdon Hospital.

You may also be asked to provide transport for the family to Rainbow Trust support groups and activities.

What skills do I need?

• A confident, calm and patient driver

• Experience of interacting with people from a wide variety of backgrounds

• Experience of interacting with children and young people

• An ability to empathise with families in stressful circumstances

• Non-judgemental, warm, friendly and with a sense of humour

• A commitment to following our policies regarding safeguarding, professional boundaries and confidentiality

• A full driving licence held for a minimum of 2 years, and use of your own vehicle is required for this role

• All ages from 21 onwards are welcome

About Rainbow Trust Children's Charity

When a child has a serious illness, family life is turned upside down and time becomes more precious than ever. Rainbow Trust enables families to make the most of time together, giving them practical and emotional support, whenever they need it, for as long as is needed. We support the whole family including parents, carers, the unwell child, brothers, sisters and grandparents. Support is hugely varied and depends on the needs of the family.
