Join Harrow CoderDojo as a volunteer and help young people aged 7–17 learn to code, develop digital skills, and build creative projects. Volunteers support learners with activities such as Scratch, Python, HTML/CSS, robotics, and electronics, fostering problem-solving, creativity, and teamwork. No teaching experience is required—just enthusiasm, patience, and a willingness to learn alongside the young people.
Commitment: Flexible – typically 1–2 hours per month.

Interest in coding, technology, or digital making
Friendly and encouraging communication style
DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)

Skills & Requirements
Enthusiastic about inspiring young people through coding & digital making.
Comfortable using or learning Scratch, micro: bit, Raspberry Pi, Python, HTML/CSS.
Strong communication, patience, and the ability to support learners.
Reliable and consistent attendance at sessions.
Understanding of online safety and safeguarding protocols.
Willingness to assist with setup, resources, and administrative support.
Commitment to complete required volunteer training modules.
Prepared to undergo a DBS or local background check if necessary.
Administrative & Operational Tasks
Willingness to help with setting up equipment, prepping the space before sessions, and assisting with admin duties.
Ability to plan or use structured, step-by-step Code Club resources to guide activities effectively.
Training & Background Checks
Completion of the free online Code Club volunteer training, which typically covers safe club setup and safeguarding responsibilities, takes less than 45 minutes.
Depending on club policies, a DBS check (or equivalent background check) may be required, or at least a willingness to undergo one.

We welcome volunteers year-round, with sessions typically running once or twice a month on weekends or early evenings. Commitment is flexible—you can choose sessions that fit your schedule, but regular attendance is appreciated to build rapport with the young learners. Extra help is especially valued during term-time project phases and at special showcase events.
