Volunteer – Community Engagement & Support

Location: Soham Yoga, Harrow

Commitment: Flexible hours, ideally 2–4 hours per week

Type: Voluntary (unpaid, expenses reimbursed if agreed in advance)


We’re looking for friendly, reliable volunteers to help us create a warm, welcoming, and organised environment for our community classes. You’ll play a key role in making sure every participant feels valued, engaged, and leaves with a smile.

Key Tasks

Hall Setup: Prepare the yoga space (arrange mats, chairs, props, and ensure cleanliness).

Reception & Check-In: Welcome participants, check bookings in our system, and guide new attendees.

Community Engagement: Chat with participants before and after sessions, help them connect with each other, and encourage a friendly group atmosphere.

Feedback Collection: Encourage attendees to share reviews or complete feedback forms.

Session Support: Assist instructors if needed, ensuring everyone has what they need for a positive experience.

What We’re Looking For

A warm, welcoming personality and good communication skills

Reliability and punctuality

Basic computer or smartphone skills (for booking/check-in system) – training provided

A genuine interest in community well-being and yoga (experience in yoga is a bonus, but not required)

Skills & Qualities Needed

Friendly & Approachable – Able to create a welcoming atmosphere for all participants.

Good Communication – Comfortable speaking with people from different backgrounds.

Teamwork – Works well with instructors and other volunteers.

Organisation – Can help set up the hall, manage time, and keep things running smoothly.

Reliability – Turns up on time and follows through on commitments.

Basic IT Skills – Able to use a smartphone, tablet, or computer for check-in and booking (training provided).

Positive Energy – Brings warmth, enthusiasm, and encouragement to the group.

Adaptability – Can respond calmly and helpfully to last-minute changes.

About Soham London CIC

Our mission is to promote holistic well-being and self-discovery through the transformative power of Yoga and Meditation. As a not-for-profit organisation, we are dedicated to serving our community by offering accessible, inclusive, and impactful yoga practices. We also help young children with their health & well-being through Yoga & Meditation, Mental health, improving their digital skills by providing coding training through Code Club to support our Web and Mobile applications.

We welcome volunteers year-round for our regular community yoga and mindfulness sessions. Main Days & Times: Weekday Mornings - typically 11.15 am - 12.15 pm (setup, reception, and close-down) Weekday Evenings – typically 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm (setup, reception, and close-down) Saturday Mornings – typically 9:30 am – 12:00 pm (setup, reception, and close-down) Volunteers are asked to arrive 30–45 minutes before a session starts to help with setup, and stay about 20–30 minutes after for close-down. You can join the Yoga session. Commitment can be weekly, fortnightly, or on a rota basis, depending on your availability. Occasional help may also be needed for special workshops, festivals, and outreach events. We are flexible and happy to discuss hours to fit around your schedule. Even a couple of hours a week makes a big difference!
