Youth Employability Volunteer

Ignite Youth

We are looking for a friendly and reliable volunteer to give a few hours of their time, one day per week, to support young people in improving their employability skills and increasing their chances of finding work, training or further education opportunities.

The role will involve helping young people with practical tasks such as creating CVs, completing application forms, searching for opportunities, and building their confidence for interviews. Volunteers will also provide administrative support to help keep records up to date and ensure young people receive the support they need.

Key Responsibilities

Support young people with CV writing and job applications.

Assist with online job and training searches.

Help young people prepare for interviews.

Provide general administrative support, including updating records and documents.

Encourage and motivate young people to achieve their goals.

Work alongside staff to ensure young people receive appropriate support.

What skills do I need?

Skills and Experience

Excellent administrative and organisational skills.

Good standard of written and spoken English.

Friendly, approachable, and able to communicate with young people from diverse backgrounds.

Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office and email.

Reliable and able to work independently when required.

Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.

The ability to speak another language is welcomed and valued.

No previous youth work experience is required. Full support and guidance will be provided.

Ignite Youth, is a youth charity dedicated to working with children and young people, aged 11 to 25 in Harrow and surrounding boroughs, helping them re-engage with education, secure employment, and move away from anti-social behaviour, gang involvement and exploitative relationships.
