Blossom Education Ltd
About the Role
Our baby bank provides essential items and clothing to families who need a helping hand. We want families to feel welcomed, respected, and empowered to choose the clothes and items that work best for them. As a Family Shop Session Volunteer, you’ll help us run welcoming and organised shop-style sessions, where parents and carers can select clothing and essentials for their babies in a dignified, supportive environment.
What You’ll Do
* Welcome families to the session and create a warm, friendly, and non-judgmental atmosphere.
* Support families as they browse and choose items for their babies, offering guidance if needed.
* Keep the shop space tidy, safe, and well-presented throughout the session.
* Receive, sort, and quality-check donations to ensure items are clean, safe, and suitable.
* Organise clothing rails, shelves, and displays so families can easily find what they need.
* Restock and rotate items to make sure the shop looks inviting and well supplied.
* Follow safeguarding and confidentiality policies to protect the privacy and dignity of all families.
* Provide feedback to the Baby Bank team about stock needs, session improvements, or family requests.
What You’ll Bring
* Kindness, empathy, and a non-judgmental approach.
* Good communication skills and the ability to make people feel welcome.
* An eye for organisation - from sorting baby grows by size to making displays look inviting.
* Willingness to work as part of a team.
* Reliability - families depend on us, so showing up matters.
What You’ll Gain
* The chance to make a direct, positive difference to families in your community.
* Experience in a community support setting.
* Training and ongoing support from the Baby Bank team.
* The joy of seeing parents leave with essentials they’ve chosen with care for their little ones.
Time Commitment
Sessions usually run for 3 hours, plus a little time before and after for setting up, sorting donations, and packing away. We welcome volunteers who can commit regularly (weekly/fortnightly) or on a rota.
