The role of Maternity Champions is to
- provide support to new and expectant families
- share important information about pregnancy and early childhood
- connect families with local services and resources
You are able to -
- listen and engage with a mother/family with the right language, eye contact and body language
- show empathy, while maintaining impartiality
- build up a good working knowledge of local and national support services and information resources that cover from pregnancy through to a child's first year.
- help pregnant women and families understand the services available to them and signpost them to relevant resources.
- You feel confident in engaging with local professionals to advocate for a parent/family to ensure they can access a service
- you feel confident to attend and engage with families at drop-in sessions throughout the borough
